Incheon, a city with over 3 million inhabitants, is a global metropolis embracing diverse ages, races, and cultures. It's a city where the socially vulnerable, including people with disabilities, the elderly, women, children, and foreigners, coexist and communicate.
The 2023 Incheon International Design Forum has chosen its theme around the universal life, thoughts, and urban environment of these community members. It focuses on 'Communication and Coexistence' to encapsulate the concept of 'inclusive design' as its slogan.
This focuses on embedding philosophical values that ensure everyone in the city can live safely, easily, and with human dignity. It involves considering what citizens need and want, recognizing the importance of acknowledging differences while accepting each other, and implementing the values of universal design so that everyone can enjoy a universal life without significant effort or external help.
Keywords: Versatility, Irritability, Flexibility, Convenience
This theme emphasizes the need for design to be age, gender, and mobility agnostic. It involves removing barriers that could have excluded certain people, ethnic groups, organizations, or fields, and recognizes a broader range of fields and collaboration, accepting differences as part of 'universal design for coexistence.'
Keywords: Receptivity, Affinity, Reality
